The controversy has attracted attention because Talarico, a Democratic state representative and seminarian, has made his Christian faith a prominent part of his political identity.
The original investigation was published by Axios on November 8, 2025, and has resurfaced during the final days of the 2026 Texas Senate campaign.
The reporting identified approximately 10 Instagram accounts followed by Talarico that were associated with adult entertainment, paid subscription content, or escort-related websites.
The findings prompted questions about how the candidate manages his public social media profile and whether he personally selected the accounts.
Talarico has developed a national political profile by discussing Christianity and its relationship to Democratic public policy.
He has frequently spoken about religious teachings concerning poverty, immigration, healthcare, and the treatment of vulnerable populations.
His public statements have emphasized his belief that faith should influence public service.

According to Axios, journalists reviewed publicly visible accounts followed by Talarico’s Instagram profile.
The investigation identified accounts belonging to adult film performers and women who advertised or were listed on platforms associated with adult content.
Some of those individuals maintained profiles on OnlyFans, a subscription platform that can host adult material.
Others had accounts or listings associated with websites used to advertise escort services.
The reporting did not establish that Talarico purchased adult content or hired escorts.
Instead, it documented that his public Instagram profile followed accounts associated with those activities.
One of the accounts identified belonged to adult film performer Giselle Palmer, who had approximately 250,000 Instagram followers at the time of the report.
Other accounts were connected to individuals with online profiles on adult entertainment or escort-related websites.
Axios also reported that Talarico’s Instagram profile had liked photographs posted by an Austin-area woman with an OnlyFans account and a listing on an escort-industry website.
